CleanCities ClimAccelerator

CleanCities ClimAccelerator represents an innovative urban climate solution initiative established in 2020 under the leadership of Universidad Politécnica de Madrid with backing from EIT Climate-KIC. This specialized acceleration program targets startups developing technologies and business models aimed at transforming urban ecosystems toward climate neutrality. The accelerator addresses multiple sectors including mobility, waste management, energy systems, and public health, creating comprehensive solutions for sustainable city development. Since its inception, the program has cultivated a diverse community comprising over 70 startups from more than 15 countries, all working toward cleaner urban environments.

For its fourth cohort, CleanCities is specifically seeking early-stage ventures with high climate impact potential and innovative, scalable technologies. Eligible startups must demonstrate a solid business foundation with a committed team of at least two members. Additional requirements include being less than five years old and maintaining headquarters within the European Union. This careful selection process ensures the accelerator builds a portfolio of promising ventures capable of meaningful environmental contributions while maintaining strong growth trajectories in the competitive cleantech marketplace.

Participants in the ClimAccelerator program gain access to an exceptional range of resources designed to catalyze their development. These include integration into a global network of investors, corporations, and public institutions specializing in climate innovation. Startups benefit from targeted training sessions led by international experts in sustainability business models and climate entrepreneurship.
