ESA BIC Sud France represents the inaugural European Space Agency incubator established in France, forming part of a network of 22 Business Incubation Centres across Europe initiated since 2000. Under the coordination of Aerospace Valley and with backing from CNES and the SAFE competitiveness cluster, this innovative platform focuses on nurturing startups that either have direct connections to space technology or implement space-derived applications across diverse sectors including urban development, agriculture, healthcare, and consumer products. The incubator operates through a comprehensive consortium comprising nine organizations spanning four French regions: Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie-Pyrénées/Méditerranée, Région Sud, and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.

The consortium's extensive regional network includes prominent innovation facilitators such as ESTIA Entreprendre, Technopole Bordeaux Technowest, CEEI Théogone, Nubbo, BIC Montpellier, Incubateur PACA-Est, Pégase Croissance, Gate 1, and Chambéry Grand Lac. This strategic alliance enables ESA BIC Sud France to provide entrepreneurs with specialized resources tailored to the unique challenges of space-related ventures. Since 2019, the incubator has significantly strengthened its support ecosystem by forming valuable partnerships with aerospace giant Airbus and the Prévifrance mutual insurance company, enhancing the range of expertise and resources available to incubated startups.

Since its foundation in 2013, ESA BIC Sud France has successfully supported over 80 companies, demonstrating its effectiveness in transforming space-related innovations into viable businesses. The incubator provides a comprehensive support package typically including technical expertise, business development guidance, access to funding opportunities, and connections to the broader European space ecosystem. Startups receive assistance in adapting space technologies for terrestrial applications or developing new solutions that leverage satellite data, navigation systems, and other space assets to address market needs across multiple industries.
