NovaUCD

NovaUCD is the hub of innovation and start-up activities at University College Dublin and is one of Europe's leading start-up hubs. Since 2003, NovaUCD has supported over 550 companies and early-stage ventures, and the NovaUCD entrepreneurial community has raised more than €1.3 billion in equity funding. Seventy new UCD spin-out companies have been incorporated, 1,165 inventions have been disclosed, 370 priority patent applications have been filed, and 320 licensing deals have been concluded with various indigenous and international businesses. Since 2017, 220 consultancy projects have been completed. Start-ups at NovaUCD include companies which spin-out from UCD's research programmes or companies which spin-in to collaborate with and benefit from engagement with the university. NovaUCD houses UCD's knowledge transfer team, responsible for the commercialisation of intellectual property arising from research and other knowledge-intensive activity at UCD. ConsultUCD, the university's managed consultancy service, which facilitates access and supports engagement between business, industry and UCD, is also based at NovaUCD. Additionally, NovaUCD manages NexusUCD, the university's industry partnership centre, and the AgTechUCD Innovation Centre based at UCD Lyons Farm in Co. Kildare. Since its establishment in 2003, NovaUCD has developed an excellent infrastructure and comprehensive business support programmes, dedicated accelerator programmes including programmes for students, and an ecosystem of mentors, investors and industry partners that help nurture an enthusiastic and dynamic community of start-ups and established companies to grow and scale globally.
