At Yara Ventures, we are smart money investors and manage investment vehicles: Yara Seed (evergreen open-end) for seed stage, up & running with 7 active investments in Spain, US and Israel, with 2018 fundraising now open; Food Tech & Innovation Fund for early stage/series A/B, scheduled for 4Q2018 with fundraising now open; and a Fintech, Insurtech, Proptech, Regtech Fund for early stage/series A/B. We have a proven investment thesis at seed stage, an attractive portfolio and exclusive investment opportunities to deploy capital now and eventually directly co-invest or syndicate with us. We focus on seed and early stage investments in vetted startups that positively impact the way we live, typically co-investing with our network. Our areas of interest in 2016-2017 were Marketplaces, Mobility, AI and Cybersecurity, while for 2018-2019 we're focused on four areas: Food (from agriculture to kitchen devices including retailtech), Health (especially mobile devices & genomics), Madtech (intersection of media, advertising & technology), and Fintech, Insurtech, Proptech, Regtech, with special attention to AI/ML & blockchain. Our target startups have proven teams of serial or well-mentored entrepreneurs with strong teams we can build on, vetted startups that have been through a partner incubation or acceleration program, and scalable investment in seed stage with follow-on investments while accomplishing milestones. They also have proven products/services with controlled technology risk (preferably already patented), innovative with defensive strategies, and large market opportunity or clearly fitting in the industry. Additionally, they have proven business models with consistent revenue growth, preferably recurring revenue models, and are scalable, especially internationally, and metrics-driven. Yara is the Yoruba word for acceleration, it's in our DNA. Besides providing cash, we mentor and offer tactical support to entrepreneurs so they can scale-up their startups.
